Local life in Caro
Caro has been the Tuscola County seat since 1860, when the designation moved here from Vassar, and it still functions as the administrative and commercial center for a largely agricultural county. The downtown is a working one rather than a restored one.
The Cass River runs through town and on through Vassar and Frankenmuth toward Saginaw. Housing is affordable by any southern Michigan standard, with farmland and acreage common and older in-town homes making up much of the rest.
This is at the northern edge of the area covered here — roughly an hour from Lapeer via M-24. For most buyers, Flint or Saginaw are the more realistic daily commute than anywhere south.
