Local life in Lake Orion
Lake Orion itself is a 470-acre all-sports lake in Orion Township, and it sets the tone for the whole market. Waterfront commands a firm premium, lake-access parcels trade well behind it, and the wooded lots away from the water are a different market again.
The village has a walkable downtown with a social district, and the Paint Creek Trail runs south from it toward Rochester along a former rail line — a genuinely well-used amenity rather than a line on a map.
This is commuter country for metro Detroit, with M-24 south to Pontiac and I-75 beyond. Lapeer is about 30 minutes north, which makes Lake Orion a common compromise for households split between the two.
