Almont village had 2,846 residents at the 2020 census and sits right on M-53, which gives it more through-traffic and more commercial life than most villages its size. The historic downtown along West St. Clair Street is the good part — brick and wood-sided storefronts, now filled with offices, small businesses and restaurants, with the stretch from 124 to 328 recognized as a historic district.

Almont Community Schools is a genuine draw, serving close to 1,400 students across three buildings and covering the village plus parts of Almont, Dryden and Imlay townships. That district reputation shows up in what people are willing to pay for the newer subdivisions on the village edges.
