Mayfield is the township that wraps around the north and west sides of the city, which gives it an unusually good deal: country lots and small lakes without ever really leaving Lapeer's orbit. Groceries, schools and the hospital are minutes away, and so is open ground.

Housing shifts as you move outward — established subdivisions immediately beyond the city line, then acreage and lake parcels further out. Most of the township is served by Lapeer Community Schools, though as everywhere out here it is worth confirming for a specific parcel.

Because it borders the city, both I-69 and M-24 are effectively immediate, which makes this one of the easier places in the county to commute from in any direction.
